Welcome to the Don, Christy, Daniel and Kayla's Fundraising Web Page

Why is the Roy Family (Don, Christy, Daniel and Kayla) walking at AKF's Kidney Action Day?

There are over 31 million adults with kidney disease in the United States. A great number of people are living with kidney disease and don't even know it. We want to make sure that our family, friends and colleagues are all aware of this silent killer. We want to take the first step in the fight against kidney disease by creating awareness and walking in Kidney Action Day.

Don works at the American Kidney Fund and we know first hand that AKF uses the money wisely, spending 97 cents of every dollar on direct financial assistance and educational programs to fight and prevent kidney disease. AKF helps nearly 1 out of every 5 dialysis patients in the U.S. In Maryland alone AKF supports over 7,100 kidney patients with over $5.9 million in direct financial assistance but even with all this assistance AKF could not serve everyone that needed assistance and that is why they need your support.

In 2013, Charity Navigator, awarded the American Kidney Fund its highest, 4-star evaluation for sound fiscal management. This is the twelfth consecutive time the American Kidney Fund has received the 4-star rating from Charity Navigator.  Only 1% of the charities we rate have received at least 10 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that American Kidney Fund consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way, and outperforms most other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator differentiates American Kidney Fund from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust, said Ken Berger, President of Charity Navigator. Charity Navigator evaluates about 5,000 charities in the United States.
