AKA Pairs Up with the American Kidney Fund
in the Fight to Prevent Kidney Disease

The American Kidney Fund is proud to be a health charity organization of choice in a four-year partnership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated—the first Greek-lettered sorority established and incorporated by African American college women.

In this dynamic partnership, the American Kidney Fund is Pairing Up with the more than 250,000 women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., to raise awareness of kidney disease and its risk factors through health and education-focused activities.

Why We Are Taking Action

One in eight U.S. adults has kidney disease and 90% don’t even know it. Many people are unaware that kidney disease can be prevented, which is why we have Paired Up with the American Kidney Fund in an effort to make sure our family, friends and colleagues are all aware of this silent killer. Through a dynamic partnership, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is helping the American Kidney Fund raise awareness of kidney disease and its risk factors through health and education-focused activities.

The Virtual Walk

The American Kidney Fund Virtual Walk is a great way to join in the fight to prevent kidney disease. It can take place anytime, anywhere. You may choose to walk around your community, in a local park, indoors at a mall or even on a treadmill at a gym! Your Virtual Walk is a reflection of you, and is as personal as your reasons for joining the fight to prevent kidney disease. Added bonus: walking is great for your health!

Join Us In Taking Action

Our partnership with the American Kidney Fund has provided us with a chance to highlight our commitment to service and raising awareness of kidney disease. Last year, AKA chapters provided many volunteers and helped raise money for prevention and awareness efforts! Many AKA members also took advantage of the free health screenings available during Kidney Action Day. This year, we will once again join the American Kidney Fund to raise money and awareness for those living with kidney disease. You can join us in the fight against kidney disease by joining team Zeta Chi Omega and making a donation. Your contribution, whether it is $10 or $100, will help fund the programs that provide financial assistance to people living with kidney disease. So please make a contribution today.
