Why I'm Taking Action
I'm proud to work for the American Kidney Fund, a great charitable organization that is helping almost 1 out of every 4 U.S. dialysis patients with their treatment-related expenses, and is working to raise awareness of kidney disease. I joined the Virtual Walk in memory of my dad, who died from kidney disease in 1982. You can join me in the fight against kidney disease by supporting my personal fundraising efforts. Your contribution, whether it is $20 or $2,000, will help fund the programs that provide financial assistance to people living with kidney disease.
About the American Kidney Fund
The American Kidney Fund fights kidney disease through direct financial support to patients in need, health education and prevention efforts. It leads the nation in charitable assistance to dialysis patients. Last year, nearly 90,000 people, almost 1 out of every 4 U.S. dialysis patients, received assistance from the American Kidney Fund for health insurance premiums and other treatment-related expenses. The American Kidney Fund reaches millions of people annually through its national campaign, Pair Up: Join the Fight to Prevent Kidney Disease; free kidney health screenings; health education materials and courses; online outreach, and a toll-free health information HelpLine (866-300-2900). As a 10-time recipient of the top Four Star rating from Charity Navigator, the American Kidney Fund is ranked among the top 1 percent of charities nationwide for fiscal accountability. In addition, the American Kidney Fund holds an A+ rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy; adheres to the National Health Council Standards of Excellence; and is a member of the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance.
