Fundraising Tools

Now that you have registered for Steps that Count, it is time to start your fundraising efforts! AKF has created tools for you to use at your convenience. In addition to our suggestions, use your creativity and enthusiasm to increase awareness and request donations.

Fundraising Tips [PDF] Gives helpful hints on reaching your fundraising goal.

Tracking Form [PDF] Helps you to keep track of in-person donations that people make to support your fundraising goal.

Mail-In Donation Form [PDF] This form must be submitted for offline donations made toward your fundraising goal.

If you prefer to register for Steps that Count by mail, you can complete this Registration Form and mail it to Rhonda Watson, American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Boulevard, Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852 or fax it to 301-881-0898.

Along with these downloadable documents, AKF has giving envelopes, brochures, and posters available. Please contact Rhonda Watson at rwatson@kidneyfund.org or call (301) 984-6654 to receive your materials!

Steps that Count and the American Kidney Fund do not require a registration fee to participate, and only requests that all participants make their best efforts to fundraise for the event! Donations to the American Kidney Fund are tax-deductible.

Please join us for nutritious snacks and beverages as you get energized to begin your walk. Downtown Silver Spring offers over 20 dining locations to enjoy after the walk!

 

Directions to Steps that Count and Parking Information

Silver Spring Directions:

From Downtown Washington
Proceed North on 16th street towards Maryland.

Merge right onto Alaska Avenue immediately after Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Turn left onto Georgia Avenue (MD-97 N). Proceed North on Georgia Avenue for approximately 1.5 miles. Downtown Silver Spring is on the right of Georgia Avenue between Wayne Avenue and Colesville Road.

From the Beltway (I-495):

Take Georgia Avenue (MD-97 S) exit (Exit 31B S) towards Silver Spring. Proceed South on Georgia Avenue for approximately 1.5 miles. Downtown Silver Spring is on the left between Colesville Road (MD-29) and Wayne Avenue.

By Metro:

Metro's Red Line Station in Silver Spring.
By Ride-On-Bus:

The Silver Spring station is served by Ride-On routes, 1,2,3,4,5,8,9,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,22,28.

By Metrobus:

The Silver Spring station is served by Metrobus routes 70,71,J5,F4,F6,JHI,J2,J3,J4,Q2,S2,S4,Y8,Z5.

Parking:

The public garages offer free parking on weekends.
