One of the themes you’ll hear regularly from the American Kidney Fund is the importance of taking action for your health. We believe that knowledge empowers people to live healthier lives, and each year we reach millions of Americans with information about kidney health and preventing kidney disease.
Through our Pair Up campaign, we help people understand their risk for kidney disease. Through our signature outreach event—Kidney Action Day—we put the spotlight on kidney health in communities that have rates of kidney failure much higher than the national average.
We have four Kidney Action Days coming up in the next few months: metro Washington, D.C. (September 8), San Antonio (October 6), Houston (October 14) and Atlanta (October 27). Kidney Action Day is a free, fun-filled, family-friendly event with a serious purpose: helping people understand their risk for kidney disease and how to prevent it. If you’re in one of those regions, we hope you’ll join us for Kidney Action Day, and consider signing up for our Kidney Action Day Walk fundraiser, as well. If you have friends and family in those regions, please help us spread the word! And finally, if you don’t live near a Kidney Action Day event but are still interested in supporting the cause, consider joining our Virtual Walk to spread the word about kidney disease in your own community!
Do you know the key indicators of kidney health? Simple tests can help identify your risk for kidney disease and also tell if your kidneys are working properly. The free Kidney Health Tracker from the American Kidney Fund is a handy guide that can help keep track of your kidney health.
Are you and the people you love at risk for kidney disease? Pair Up with your friends and family and learn about your risk at our fall Kidney Action Day events. Kidney Action Day is the American Kidney Fund’s signature outreach event, bringing together hundreds of people for a day of fun that’s focused on kidney health and healthy living. Kidney Action Days feature free kidney health screenings, healthy cooking demos and food samples, fun fitness activities, games and activities for kids, and our Kidney Action Day Walk fundraiser. We hope to see you in metro Washington, D.C., San Antonio, Houston or Atlanta! These events are free and open to the public.
No matter where you live, you can participate in the American Kidney Fund Virtual Walk to raise awareness and raise funds to help kidney patients and the millions at risk for kidney disease. Whether you walk alone or Pair Up to form a team; whether you walk in your neighborhood or indoors at a mall; whether you set a fundraising goal of $50 or $5,000; you will be doing your part in the fight against kidney disease.
The American Kidney Fund advocates for policies to improve the health of millions of Americans and their families who are living with, or are at risk of developing, kidney disease. Visit our Action Center to join our advocacy efforts and communicate directly with your representatives in Congress on current policies and legislation impacting kidney patients and their families.
