A sincere "thank you" from the bottom of our hearts
Since AKF opened the Coronavirus Emergency Fund in late March, generous corporations, foundations and individuals have helped us connect over 5,000 kidney patients with critical funds to help pay for lifesaving medicines, foods and transportation. We are so grateful to our generous donors who have stepped up during this challenging time, and to all members of the AKF community for their outpouring of support and kindness. Thank you for your contributions to the fight against kidney disease.
AKF receives approximately 150 Coronavirus Emergency Fund grant applications per day. Patient need for these critical funds is immense and constant. If you are able, please make a contribution to the emergency fund so that we can continue to help as many patients as possible as the COVID-19 crisis continues.

Rep. Payne, a dialysis patient himself, explained that dialysis patients require additional financial help because they are in a vulnerable position both physically and economically.

Although he knew he should take the medicine his doctor prescribed, he couldn't afford it at the time and thought he would be OK without it. Unfortunately, Dereck learned the connection between blood pressure and kidney failure the hard way.

Veggie burgers have evolved into a classic vegetarian meal for good reason. You can avoid the higher-sodium store-bought varieties and make these simple burgers at home.
Made from canned white beans and leftover rice, these burgers are quick to throw together on a weeknight, and are always handy if made in advance. Cooked veggie burgers can be frozen and reheated in the oven or toaster oven.
