AKF Ambassadors Educate, Advocate and Inspire
On April 3, 27 AKF Ambassadors from 19 states and the District of Columbia gathered in our nation's capital to share their personal stories with kidney disease, and to advocate on key issues affecting kidney patients.
In addition, AKF hosted a well-attended congressional briefing on the topic of kidney disease and minority communities.
Many thanks to the AKF Ambassadors who devoted their time and energy to share their stories as dialysis patients, kidney recipients, living donors, caregivers and loved ones of kidney patients.

Help more people get off of dialysis
Kidney transplant is the best treatment for kidney failure. But the United States is facing a severe kidney shortage. People who qualify for the transplant list often must wait years. By making it easier for people to be living donors, we can increase the available supply of donor kidneys, shorten the waiting list for everyone and save lives.
