Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill
AKF's annual Advocacy Day kicks off on April 2 when a group of 27 AKF Ambassadors will convene in Washington, D.C. for a full day of advocacy training. The next day, Ambassadors will put what they've learned into practice by meeting with their elected officials on issues important to those affected by kidney disease.
One of the key issues AKF Ambassadors will discuss is the Living Donor Protection Act of 2019, which would protect those who selflessly donate an organ to someone in need from discrimination by insurance providers or employers.

Did you know that 1 in 3 Americans is at risk for chronic kidney disease? And that the American Kidney Fund helps more kidney patients directly than any other nonprofit? Chances are kidney disease has impacted you or someone in your life and that AKF has stepped in to help.
You can still make an impact this Kidney Month to empower, fight for and honor everyone affected by kidney disease.

April is Donate Life Month
About 114,000 Americans are on the transplant waiting list—and nearly 100,000 of them are waiting for a kidney. Unfortunately, the number of people waiting for kidneys is much larger than the number of available kidneys from living and deceased donors.
The truth is, you can save a life by being a living kidney donor.
