Thirty-one million: that’s how many Americans are living with chronic kidney disease (CKD). During National Kidney Month, we are shining the spotlight on those 31 million people. We want to get the word out that CKD is a serious problem affecting a huge portion of our population. Won’t you join us in celebrating National Kidney Month and help us spread the word about kidney disease? Won’t you consider donating $31 to AKF in honor of those 31 million people—and to support our mission? Together, we can make March count!
Anyone can get kidney disease, but some people are at greater risk than others. Learn if you may be at increased risk and find out what steps you can take to reduce your chances of developing CKD.
The Chronic Kidney Disease Improvement in Research and Treatment Act of 2015 is critical legislation that would make a real difference in the fight against kidney disease. We need your help to generate support for this bill in Congress! You can use our website to send a personalized message to your own U.S. representative and senators.
Our community outreach event, Kidney Action Day, will take place in cities across the country this year, bringing free health screenings and information about healthy living to people at risk for kidney disease. We kicked off National Kidney Month with Kidney Action Day events in Washington, D.C., and Memphis, Tennessee. Check our webpage to see if there is a Kidney Action Day near you! We are grateful to our sponsors American Renal Associates, U.S. Renal Care, Hospira and Genentech for making Kidney Action Day possible.
Don’t forget to vote! Beginning this week, we're asking our friends to select the art that will appear on the cover of our 2016 calendar. We’ve selected 13 finalists from among the beautiful artwork submitted by children with kidney disease, but only one gets to be on the cover. Pick your favorite!
You can help people fight kidney disease and live healthier lives by making a donation to support our programs and services. During National Kidney Month, we’re asking our friends to consider donating $31—one dollar for each day in March—in honor of the 31 million Americans living with kidney disease. Your gift will help us provide financial assistance to dialysis patients in need and will help us reach out to people at risk to help them prevent kidney disease. Make a gift today!
